Wells, Hugh R

Hugh R Wells, Ronnie, graduated from Graham High School and entered the military from Graham, Texas.  He served in the Navy from 1963 until 1966 and the Air Force from 1971 until 1991.  He served in Vietnam through Desert Storm.

His name is listed on the Veteran's Memorial in Vietnam Era in Graham, Young County, Texas.

Ronnie attended Radar Operator training in 1963-64 at Treasure Island, CA and was assigned to the USS Waldron (DD-699) after completing training.  The USS Waldron's home port was Norfolk, VA.  He seperated from the Navy in December, 1966 after 1 1/2 Med cruises and several Gemini recovery missions.  Ronnie volunteers as the USS Waldron's Alumni Association web master.

Ronnie joined the Air Force in July, 1971.  He completed Weather Observer and Weather Forcaster, and Tropical Weather shools at Chanute AFB, IL.  His assignments included: Ellington AFB, TX; The Joint Typhoon Warning Center, Guam; Fort Riley, KS; Charleston AFB, SC; Incirlik AB, Guam, Carswell AFB, TX; Bitburg AB, Germany, and Bergstrom AFB, TX.  Ronnie retired from the Air Force in 1991 as a Senior Master Sergent (E-8) and Master Meteorologist.
