U.S. Army Corporal George Calvin Birdwell was born on July 2, 1927 in Graham, the son of Carl and Rose Birdwell.

Corporal Birdwell grew up in Bunger and worked as a farmer when he enlisted into the Army.  He served a one-year enlistment. His job specialty was manufacturing electrical machinery and accessories.

He passed away on September 23, 2006 and is interred at Graham’s Pioneer Cemetery.

I will incude a photo on an upcoming Young County New Century Veterans Memorial Facebook post next week.
